Mexico Street Lighting Activities

Mexico’s National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE) is implementing a National Public Lighting Program, in partnership with the Federal Electricity Commission and the state owned development bank Banobras, to replace inefficient lighting systems in municipalities across the country. SEAD is partnering with CONUEE to support this effort through training staff and municipal officials to use the SEAD Street Lighting Tool to evaluate the light quality and energy efficiency of potential upgrade luminaires.

On February 28, 2014, CONUEE and SEAD partnered to host a training workshop on the SEAD Street Lighting Tool. Over 50 attendees participated in the training, including representatives from 16 municipalities across Mexico. As a follow-up to this workshop, a webinar will be held to present case studies from two municipalities that are using the SEAD Tool in upcoming lighting projects.  To view the presentations from this workshop and learn more about CONUEE’s program, click here. CONUEE and SEAD will continue to work together to integrate the SEAD Tool into the National Lighting Program.
